Portland Police Bureau detectives have made an arrest in a collision between a car and a bicycle that occurred Friday afternoon.

Detectives today arrested and charged 35-year-old Wayne Conrad Thompson, the driver, with one count of assault in the first degree. The victim remains in serious condition, said Sgt. Michael Marshman.

Police say the collision occurred at 2 p.m. Friday in the area of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the driver of a Kia Sportage had hit a cyclist. The driver stayed at the scene. The cyclist was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
