LAKEWOOD RANCH – A bicyclist is seriously injured after a driver ran a red light, causing the vehicle to strike the pedestrian.

Lindsay Damery, 22, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu at 10:20 a.m. Friday southbound on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard approaching Summerfield Parkway. Despite a red light, Damery continued through the intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Damery struck an 83-year-old bicyclist, who then collided with an 81-year-old cyclist, FHP reports.

Damery’s car collided with another vehicle at the intersection before stopping.

Damery had minor injuries. Three passengers in her vehicle were not injured. The driver in the second vehicle was also not injured.

Both cyclists were taken to Blake Medical Center. The man, 83, has serious injuries. The woman, 81, reported minor injuries, according to FHP.

Damery was cited for running the traffic light.
