BOSTON — An 84-year-old man died over the weekend after he was struck by a bicyclist while trying to cross the street in Boston on Friday night, police said.
The bicyclist collided with the man when he stepped off a curb near 186 Massachusetts Ave. at about 5:04 p.m. Police said the man fell and struck his head on the ground.
Witnesses said that a grid of cars were stopped waiting in traffic when the man stepped into the street. Police said he was not walking in a crosswalk when he was struck.
No charges have been filed against the bicyclist, who police said waited at the scene of the crash for an ambulance to arrive.
The man was reported to be in stable condition at Boston Medical Center on Saturday after suffering head injuries in the collision, but police said he later died at the hospital.
