HUNTINGTON BEACH – A 26-year-old woman crashed her bicycle into a semi trailer Thursday and was taken to the hospital to be treated for severe cuts and broken bones in her legs, police said.
Dalia Albert, of Huntington Beach, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, after crashing into a 2007 International semi truck around 4:10 p.m. at the corner of Edinger Avenue and Gothard Street, police said.
The truck, driven by Juan Soto, 29, of Anaheim, was in the right lane of eastbound Edinger, waiting at a red light to make a right turn onto Gothard, police said.
Albert was riding her 10-speed east in the bike lane when the light turned green, police said. She kept going as Soto made a right turn in front of her, police said.
Albert was said to be in stable condition last night.
The collision is under investigation.
Anyone who saw the collision may call Investigator Bob Barr of the Huntington Beach Police Department traffic bureau at 714-536-5666.
